What Is CBD & CBDa

Cannabis is full of cannabinoids. Hundreds of these chemical compounds have been identified for various purposes and effects on the human brain and body. CBD is extracted and separated from specific varieties of cannabis, often known as hemp. Chemically, CBD is one of 85 chemical substances known as cannabinoids, which are all found in the cannabis plant. CBD is the second most abundant compound in hemp, typically representing up to 40% of its extracts.

Cannabidiol (CBD) is credited with scores of medical benefits without leaving users stoned. Cannabidiolic acid (CBDa) becomes CBD when cannabis is heated. Cannabis does not grow up containing CBD. The CBDa turns into CBD when cooking or smoking initiates the decarboxylation process. Smoking accelerates the process with high heat. However, senior citizens, patients with respiratory problems, and others cannot inhale the smoke.

CBD is growing in popularity due to to its health and wellness benefits yet CBDa often ignored. CBDa works on the same human systems in the same ways as CBD. But, it has the added virtue of being “pure.” It is cleaner in the sense that there is no combustion involved, no solvents, and no toxic residue. CBD and CBDA cannot promise to cure ailments.

CBD is 100% non-psychoactive, meaning it doesn’t negatively impact your mind or mental process. In other words, CBD does not get you ‘high’ or stoned. There is no mental slowness or haziness caused by CBD products that are THC free.

This is often misunderstood, because the association of cannabis is usually with marijuana plants bred for high THC content, the specific cannabinoid that gets you high. However, cannabis contains many other cannabinoids – most of which do not get you high, like CBD. Some cannabis plants are bred for high CBD content exclusively and only contain trace amounts of THC (below 0.3% to be exact). The combination of high-CBD with extremely low amounts of THC is what makes the products derived from hemp plants non-psychoactive.

To reiterate, the cannabis plant contains multiple cannabinoids, however, only THC provides the traditional high associated with cannabis. CBD, the second most prevalent cannabinoid, is non-psychoactive and doesn’t induce any ‘high’.

CBD comes in many usage forms

CBD comes in many different forms, which allows you to custom tailor your method of use to your specific needs. There are three main types of CBD available on store shelves: oils, isolates, and wax. Each of these can be on offer in one or more different types of products: oils, tinctures, creams and gels, capsules, sublingual sprays, transdermal patches or vapors.

CBD TINCTURES + CBD OIL is the standard and most common form of cannabidiol. It is simple, pure CBD oil. An oil tincture needs a base for the CBD, which can be any number of natural oils. CBD oil in tincture form is often added into other products and is safe for human (600mg) and pet consumption (300mg).

CBD TOPICALS – from lotions to sublingual CBD oil drops – can help keep your skin looking and feeling wonderful. They could even be an effective part of a therapy plan for severe skin issues. Be sure to discuss utilizing CBD as a part of your skincare routine.

CBD CAPSULES are oil put into pill form. Most people turn to CBD capsules because of the convenience. The amount of CBD is specified, so it’s easy to monitor how much you are taking. Many take CBD capsules as a daily supplement or in place of pain relievers.

CBD VAPE + CBD oil is the concentrated form of Cannabidiol in a liquid form, which is heated and inhaled through an E-Cigarette, Vape Pen, or Vaporizer. CBD vape oil can be purchased in a bottle to refill your vaporizer or as a one-time use cartridge for your Vape Pen.

CBD EDIBLES are treats made with CBD oil extracted from hemp. They contain less than .3% THC which will not produce any psychoactive effects. They are also legal in all 50 states.

CBD WAX comes in different forms and may be referred to as CBD shatter, live resin, crumble or budder. It’s produced by treating the extract so that it becomes solidified and crystallized. This form of CBD is highly concentrated and typically people will ingest it via dabbing. Dabbing CBD wax is pretty potent and can provide instant relief from pain and other problems. But you should use it with caution since the substance in this form is highly concentrated.

Safety & Dosage

The amount of CBD you should take depends on a range of factors, including:

  • your body weight
  • the condition you’re treating
  • your individual body chemistry
  • the concentration of CBD in each pill, capsule, drop, or gummy

In other words, there are a lot of variables that go into deciding how much CBD to take. Before trying CBD, be sure to talk to your doctor about an appropriate dosage and any potential risks. If your doctor doesn’t provide a recommendation, it’s best to start with a smaller dosage and gradually increase it. This could mean starting with 20 to 40 mg a day. After a week, increase this amount by 5 mg. Continue this until you feel that it’s effectively treating your symptoms.
